Such a GOOD BOY!

Rudy is turning into such a GOOD BOY! He has settled in and his wonderful personality is shinning thru more every day. He is so happy and full of fun. Last night I was teaching him how to play tug-of-war with a toy. At first he was a little unsure of why I wanted to try and take the toy from him but you could see on his face when he figured out what we were playing and then really got into it! He has lots of energy and loved to play - and can entertain himself for quite some time with a stuffy or a kong. He is no longer crated and now understands that the dog beds that are EVERYWHERE are for him. He still only goes to his one selected bed but is happy now to nap there until I come over to give pets. Meal time is still his favorite time. He waits patiently while I make all the meals and put his in his designated spot. He will wait to be invited to the dish then dives in. His eating has slowed down quite a bit - thank goodness. When he is done he really wants the other food but as long as there is a dog at the other dish he will not move in and try to eat theirs. He still is enjoying the pool - so anyone out there who has a wading pool or likes to go to the lake - this guy's for you! If you are looking for a fun loving companion - who loves to play and loves his people - this guy's for you!

Rudy discovers the pool!

Rudy is learning so much each day - I have to admit - most of it he learns from the other hounds, not so much from me. Well, last weekend we had visitors over and Rudy saw the visiting greyhounds go in the pool. After a few failed attempt he mastered the pool and knows exactly where to go in to enjoy the shallow water on the shelf. He gets very playful when he goes in the water, and on these hot days likes to lay on the shelf. His only regret is that when he lays down in the water he can't lay his head down too!

Rudy (aka RuRu) has also learned to play. He has discovered he loves stuffies. He carries one around occassionally throwing it into the air. When he carries his stuffie he holds his head SOOOOO high you can tell he is proud, looks good with his stuffie, and knows it! Here is a video of when he was just learning to play.

Other things to report this week - he is NOT afraid of storms - or the vacuum - but prefers to leave the room when in use - he doesn't like the TV though. He won't come in the room when it is on!

First days in foster

The ride home on Saturday was such an adventure for IRU (aka Rudy). He stood in the back of the car so curious to see everything along the way until he was just too tired and took the rest of the trip laying down. He did very well in the car – not nervous or crying – just curious. Once home he met the family (4 greyhounds) and spent the day exploring. The first 2 days were stressful for us both – he just didn’t know how to ‘be’ in the house – where to go – where to lay. But now he is a pro! I’m so happy with him. It’s been just 4 days and he made himself right at home. Rudy discovered the wonder of laying on a nice soft dog bed – it took a few days before he understood that he could rest outside of the crate. Once he discovered it was OK to lay on the dog bed he picked one out that he goes to every time. When it’s bed time he starts to make little noises and I invited him into the crate which he ran in and laid down immediately. He was so ready to go to sleep but wouldn’t go in the crate until I told him it was OK. He was the same with entering the house from the back yard. In the morning I leave the back door open for the dogs to go out to the yard when they want and he learned he could go out but he always waited at the door to be invited back in. He is still figuring out the rules but every day he makes progress and it s a joy to watch him feel more at home and more comfortable each day.

Rudy eats quickly – like most of the dogs right off the track – but he is very considerate of the other dogs. As much as he wants to move on to their dishes he will not try to eat from their dish if they are still there. I’ve got him in the habit of leaving the room after he finishes his meal so the others can eat slowly. He is non-aggressive and will easily fit in with a family with other dogs.

He is such a funny boy – and full of energy! So different from my 4 senior fur kids. He greets me each morning and when I come home with such enthusiasm! We are working now on how to play with toys. I’ve been throwing the ball for him in the back yard and he takes off like a flash to chase it but he’s not sure what to do when he gets there so he zooms around the yard for a minute and comes back to me so happy. Rudy loves to have his pet time and he’s a great leaner too! Someone is really going to enjoy this boy!

Really?

Really?

That was my first thought when I walked into the kennel on Sunday and saw IRU still there. I can't believe this big fellow hasn't been snatched up already. He is such a sweet hound. A bit goofy maybe, but very sweet. He loves attention, loves to play and just seems to enjoy life. I will admit he is a bit rambunctious but with some excercise and patience I am sure IRU would make a GREAT pet.

New memories for I Remember You!

I Remember You's big sis is certainly having an impact on his behavior, for the good!
He is learning so much about being out in public, around people, and being walked on a leash. He seems to be changing and improving by leaps and bounds! The more time that is spent with him, the more he learns and picks up! He is a very smart boy who just needs love, time, and a chance to be taught the things a dog should know...His education continues and so should your thoughts about taking him home!

IRU

This boy is soooo beautiful, sweet and fun. We had so much fun with him the other day. He is just like a golden retriever, what skills and enthusiasm thiscute boy has. He has endurance too, and such a warm, loving personality! I love him and wish I could add NUMBER 6 to my household. Somebody needs to snatch this good bot up! Eda

I Remember You Wants you to Remember to come back and get him!!

What a charmer! He is hard to forget. He is a beautiful white and fawn boy who would look great on your couch. He is relaxed and content to stretch out and chill with you. However, rattle the leash and he is ready for that as well. He ran in the yard and entertained himself. He was a hoot to watch. In this economy, you could have continuous free entertainment.
